hi guys, do you think Yi Jian Gai Zhong Yuan and Xia Ke Qian Qiu are the real works of Gu Long or fake one? Do you have any cover art or pictures of these, please ? Are there also series with these titles ? Are there any English translations of these titles ?
the second one you mention reminds me of Xia Ke Xing aka Ode to gallantry, but maybe it's not the same title.

I tried several of the links on the page you sent and each of them leads to a 404 error... I saw several know titles such as Lu Xiao Feng opuses and San Shao Ye De Jian (Third Master's sword) and if you are able to read these titles in your Malay (am I mistaken ?) language, that's very good for you !!

On Google Books, there is a book Yijian Gai Zhongyuan (《一劍蓋中原》) written by Gu Long, published by 桂冠圖書有限公司, 1977. This book has been summarily ignored in Gu Long's compilation works since his death. My guess is that YJGZY was a ghostwritten work. Gu Long asked many writers to ghostwrite for him to increase his earnings. Many of these works showed no input from the writer.
I believe the other work you listed was also a ghostwritten work. Of all Gu Long's partially ghostwritten works (still in print), Saber Sounds in the Wind Chimes (《風鈴中的刀聲》) and Full Moon, Crescent Saber (《圓月彎刀》) are the most famous.

A review of an early 1961 Gu Long novel, Chronicles of the Wandering Xia (《遊俠錄》, Youxia Lu).
----
I'm not a fan of early Gu Long. So it proves here again.
This novel is better than Caihuan Qu (《彩環曲》, "Song of the Colored Band") which he wrote one year later. But it's still full of faults.
The template is probably a Jin Yong-esque novel, but the novel is short and JY's kind of novel is not GL's forte.
Chronicles of the Wandering Xia shows evidence that it wasn't planned beforehand. The title itself is proof. It seems to be about a wandering xia, You Jian (謝鏗), who appears in Chapter 1, but the story is really about Bai Fei (白非) who is NOT a wandering xia at all. So obviously Gu Long changed his mind while writing the book and the title ends up being nonsensical.
The story is alright but nothing sensational. It's not nail-biting and it shows the flaws of early Gu Long: long-windedness, a lack of themes to cohere the book, eccentric characters who aren't memorable enough. In short, it is average apprentice work. Not good enough for the middle and late GL where he really shines.
Conclusion: 2.5/5 (An average early Gu Long. Probably influenced by JY but on a far smaller scale, it's a matter of "seen this, done that" compared to the former.)
