I've never read Huang Yi's work. I heard that his work is full of unrated scene. I wonder if that's true?

I've not read a complete work of Huang Yi's yet. But, I've read part of the following book.
A Step into the Past (尋秦記) - lots of unrated scenes. Lethal Weapons of Love and Passion (覆雨翻雲) - up to book 2 only. So far, only a passing mention, no detailed description. Might have later. The Hunter's Prey (烏金血劍) - up to chapter 2. No unrated scenes, explicit or hinted. Very clean.

Huang Yi is still quite active. He just finished up a novel (published in 18 vols. from 2012-2014) called 《日月當空》(Sun and Moon in the Sky) which belongs to the "Anti-Hero" series listed above. It is the first novel in the High Tang Trilogy (盛唐三部曲). It's wuxia mixed with history and concerns the reign of Wu Zetian.
This May he began publishing the second book in the trilogy, 《龍戰在野》(Dragon Battles in the Wild). The English titles are just quick literal translations as I have not read these novels yet. As of now (June 2014), the second volume of this novel is out. This novel takes place during the reign of Emperor Zhongzong.
Also, for the advertisement for Dragon Battles in the Wild, it was noted that Huang Yi has, for three years running, surpassed Jin Yong in popularity, as determined by the number of books checked out from the library. People are checking out Huang Yi books more than Jin Yong. Not surprising, really, since Jin Yong retired decades ago and Huang Yi is still actively publishing.
He released another novel this January (2014) called 《破碎虛空》(Shattering the Void). This is a one-volume novel. Only thing I know about this novel is it takes place between the Song and Yuan dynasties.

There was speculation that last year's《日月當空》would be Huang Yi's last novel. In an interview Huang Yi said that he couldn't say for sure if it would be his last, he would just have to see how he felt. Turns out it isn't his last novel. Instead 《日月當空》 will be the first novel in a trilogy which I mentioned above. And like I said in the last post, last month he began publishing the second novel in that trilogy,《龍戰在野》.
Note about 《日月當空》: The novel centers on Wu Zetian's reign, and her name was 武曌 (Wu Zhao). The character for her name, 曌, was a character she created herself only for her own use, and it remains that way today. As you can see, the top component of that character is the sun and moon 日月, and the bottom is 空, which means empty or sky. So we can now see where the title comes from. "Sun and Moon in the Sky" refers to Wu Zetian's rise and reign as Empress of China. Huang Yi confirmed this in the interview I mentioned above.

Update: The Hunter's Prey (烏金血劍) - Up to chapter 7. Still no unrated scenes, explicit or hinted. Very clean. I guess this is one of Huang Yi's earlier works where he still has not decided to add the unrated elements.

Finish reading 'Hunter's Prey'. Confirm no unrated scenes. So, anyone interested to read a Huang Yi's work but doesn't want to read x-rated scenes can give this a try. Although not one of his best works, it's still a decent novel and it's short, only 12 chapters.

People are checking out Huang Yi books more than Jin Yong. Not surprising, really, since Jin Yong retired decades ago and Huang Yi is still actively publishing. What you point out is true. Huang Yi is still active, while Jin Yong has limited numbers of books out only and not writing new ones anymore. Even a great fan of Jin Yong can't repeatedly read back the same few books. Personally, I like HY's writing style more than JY. I used to find long fighting scenes boring. I always wish the fight scenes in JY books will end quickly so that I can move on with the story. The first fight scene that manage to engage my interest is from '覆雨翻雲' (Lethal Weapons of Love and Passion). He released another novel this January (2014) called 《破碎虛空》(Shattering the Void). This is a one-volume novel. Only thing I know about this novel is it takes place between the Song and Yuan dynasties. I think 破碎虛空 is a reprint or new edition of an old novel. There's a 破碎虛空 (Shattering the Void) on Siuyiu's list. 日月當空 ((Sun and Moon in the Sky) is a sequel to 大唐雙龍傳 (Tale of the Duo Dragons of the Great Tang). The Wu Zetian character appeared as a little girl at the end of 大唐雙龍傳.

Update: Reading this blog post about HY's long novels. blog.renren.com/share/253955020/8509984107The blog author said that 覆雨翻雲 is pretty x-rated, and the x-rate slowly decreases in subsequent books. So, 大唐雙龍傳 has less x-rated scenes. I'm surprised that she didn't say the same about 尋秦記 because I find 尋秦記 has more x-rated scenes than 覆雨翻雲. Maybe those scenes did come later in large amount in later books of 覆雨翻雲. I wish 尋秦記 doesn't have so much x-rate scenes. The story itself is very engrossing. The x-rate scenes got tiresome after a while. Xiang Shao Long got so many lovers.

Is anyone else reading 《龍戰在野》? I've read the first six chapters, and I have to say, it's very dull. The first seven volumes can be read here: www.96riyue.com/read/2.html
