Just realise that Huang Hai Bing has also played Shen Lang in a 'Wu lin Wai Shi' TV series. He has played 2 perfect male wuxia characters already. Does he just has the perfect look or what?
Note: I don't know much about Shen Lang and read in various wuxia articles that the character is perfect.
Back on topic. I think Michelle Yim is a very good casting for Yun Lei. I'm reading the book now. I can totally see Michelle Yim in the role, but, I cannot imagine Fan Bing Bing as Yun Lei.

GL's "perfect" heroes still aren't as perfect as they are in LYS's world or others who wrote the more conventional format. but yeah, SL comes as close to perfect as possible in GL's world. that's part of the reason why ah fei is such a tragic character, having been raised by a embittered mother and then left orphaned. if you wanna make comparisons, ah fei shares a similar background to yang guo, though what they do with their lives is quite different, and a reflection of their creators' life philosophies. and yes, michelle yim really is perfect in the role. and you know she played zhu qiqi in the tv adaptation of WLWS. i forget who played SL.

I just found a 1977 series translated as The trail begins and "Ping Shi Xia Ying Lu" with Yang Pan Pan. It's also translated as The wanderer chronicles. Is it the older version it's talked about in a previous post on page 1 ?
It seems to be a good one too, but one can't be disappointed with Yang Pan Pan !

Is it the older version it's talked about in a previous post on page 1 ? It seems to be a good one too, but one can't be disappointed with Yang Pan Pan ! do you mean that you found info about it or the actual series? the not-been-in-existent-for-decades tv production company called Commercial TV produced the earliest tv wuxia adaptations in HK--before TVB and RTV/ATV. they were the ones who produced the 1st LOCH starring michelle yim and pai piao. their wanderer chronicles (ping zong) did star yang pan pan--and chan keung as ZDF. here's info available online about the production (please mind the pinyin--too lazy to look up the proper spelling for the character names): 陳強飾張丹楓 chan keung as ZDF 楊盼盼飾雲蕾 yang pan pan as YL 李通明飾澹台鏡明 lee tong ming as tantai jingming 梁小龍飾雲重 bruce leung siu long as yun zong 魏秋樺飾石翠鳳 ngai chau wah as shi cuifeng 劉江飾周山民 lau kong as zhou shanmin (he played wanyan honglie in TVB's LOCH82) 鄭雷飾周健 cheng lui as zhou jian 楊澤霖飾澹台滅明 yeung zak lam as tantai mieming (he played western poison in TVB's LOCH82/ROCH83) 尹髮飾董岳 wan fat as dong yue 古耀文飾謝天華 koo yiu man as xie tianhua 黃文慧飾葉盈盈 wong man wai as ye yingying (she played mei chaofeng in TVB's LOCH82) 馬宗德飾潮音和尚 mah chung tak as dulcet sound monk 麥天恩飾張風府 mak tin yan as zhang fengfu (he played li zicheng in ATV's princess chang ping) 凌漢飾張宗周 ling hon as zhang congzhou 劉丹飾明英宗 lau tan as ming emperor (he played hong 7 gong in TVB's LOCH82/ROCH83) 林欣欣飾脫不花 lam yan yan as tuo buqua 主題曲編輯 themesong (主唱:關正傑) sung by michael kwan (男唱) 大明忠烈痛冤沉拼拋頭顱闖邊疆 群雄志士爭霸業中原起義壯志強 鴛侶同動武仇愛惹心傷 是惡是忠怎分辨奸黨奸黨蛇蠍樣 (女白) 萍踪俠影任飄揚白馬書生倍情傷 散花女俠仇似海愛侶原是苦鴛鴦 (男唱) 仇連家國化解難決不容情動刀槍 纏綿愛恨滔天罪縱違天理更斷腸 捨命同衛園願結好鴛鴦 仗劍鋤奸存孝義英風千秋成偶像 source: %E8%B8%AA%E4%BE%A0%E5%BD%B1%E5%BD%95/435644" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">baike.baidu.com/item/%E8%90%%E8%B8%AA%E4%BE%A0%E5%BD%B1%E5%BD%95/435644

I don't know where to post this, but I also found the ATV series Martyrs, or Martyrs of the martyrs that I wasn't aware of... translate.google.com/translate?hl=fr&sl=zh-CN&tl=en&u=https%3A%2F%2Fbaike.baidu.com%2Fitem%2F%E7%83%88%E5%A3%AB%E5%BF%A0%E9%AD%82That's so bad that there isn't even lists of ATV series by year as it exists for the TVB series. I'm sure that there are plenty of ATV series to discover, but no informations on the internet, or maybe it's because I don't know how and where to search, since I'm not Chinese and haven't read the right books to be able to discover the TV adaptations... And by the way, I found 12 golden plaques...

Not only I found the series (probably a tv rip) but also informations on baike baidu by translating the page here (I can't open your link) : translate.google.com/translate?hl=fr&sl=zh-CN&tl=en&u=https%3A%2F%2Fbaike.baidu.com%2Fitem%2F%E8%90%%E8%B8%AA%E4%BE%A0%E5%BD%B1%E5%BD%95%2F435644 The only problem is that they show the picture of Michelle's series instead of Yang Pan Pan's series. Actually, I'm currently founding a lot of old series I wasn't even aware of. For instance and unless the seller posted a wrong picture, I found a 1979 series called Sister Gan Nineteen, but it's not the one I already have and that is sold on buyoyo. From what I see in the picture, the 1979 one stars Luo Le Lin (yes, he is everywhere !!). Are you aware of another older series with the same title ? i question the authenticity of the tv rip. after CTV closed down, all the production film footage was bought by TVB and, as far as i know, have never been re-released. some of the video tape versions of the CTV productions were available to rent overseas, but it's doubtful that those still exist--if they do and someone converted to digital, that's amazing and a real treasure. but i seriously doubt it. i don't know what sister gan nineteen is--do you have the chinese title so i can try to look it up? and yes, luo le lin (law lok lam in canto) was one of the male leads at CTV (he played yang guo, for example), so if you truly have found a source online that is selling authentic CTV productions, then his name will show up a lot.

If it's not a tv rip, then, it's a vhs rip, I don't know because I haven't received it as yet...
Here's the Chinese title for Sister Gan Nineteen : 甘十九妹
When I serach on the internet, even mentioning the year 197, I only find the 1996 series...

I don't know regarding the authenticity : since it will be a rip, it won't be authentic, unless you mean authentic regarding the fact that it's really the Yang Pan Pan's series...

I did some searching and found the following:
Regarding PZXYL:
1. Someone seems to have uploaded the CTV series on the net. However, there are some versions that are fan-dubbed with Mandarin. Not even sure how they could manage to get the original show.
2. A professor wrote a review on this show in Takungpao earlier this year, and mentioned that TVB put 11 CTV series, including this one, on their "pay-per view platform". I did some searching and couldn't find any CTV series on the TVB Big Big Channel website, maybe I'm trying the wrong platform. Hopefully some day someone would be kind enough to put it on Youtube.
Regarding Sister Gan Nineteen 1996: According to the Mandarin Wiki it was adopted from a novel by Xiao Yi (蕭逸), who published it in 1988 in Taiwan. The television series is considered one of the earliest Wuxia TV series in China. There was a remake in 2015.
