can be wuxia-related and non-wuxia-related--i just chose this forum so people wouldn't be restricted.
here's my wuxia-related thought of the day: Iron Monkey is the sorriest excuse for wire-fu i've ever seen to date. even Crouching Tiger, Hero, and Once Upon a Time in China are better. can't believe people actually paid money to watch it in theatres.

I think I had better get a move-on cooking my lotus paste for for the coming moon cake festival!
That's my thought of the day. Not profound though.
And someone gave me a whole leg of Chinese ham 金华火腿 - I had better get off my ass and prepare that too, so that I can have some ham for my 5-kernel mooncake.
I am thinking of making some ham mooncake - I ate them in Yunnan once, and they were really good!

'A Step Into the Past' is a guy's wet dreams. It's ridiculous how very woman/girl who meet Xiang Shao Long fall in love with him. It doesn't matter the woman is a prude, a virgin, an experienced woman. All cannot resist the charm of XSL. Even the king who is bisexual is attracted to XSL. XSL is handsome, well-build, intelligent, best in combat and taller than everyone else around him.
It's also annoying how XSL deep (or not-so-deep) down minded Zhao Ya's past promiscuity when he himself is bedding women left and right. He can fall in love with many women and bed many women, while his women have to be faithful to him. Is this typical men's mentality?

it is most definitely chauvinistic mentality--i'd like to think not all men are such pigs. so, XSL is just a more educated wei xiaobao, then.

Unlike Szema Shun from 3 Kingdom RPG he can solve the history problem without using smart phone,am i right? However Szema Shun manage to return to present day ,Do XSL return to the future at the end of the novel ?

He solved problem using the skills he learned from his special force training in the present day and the skills he learned in the Warring State period. XSL are stuck in the past. He didn't get to return home.

If I ever going to read 'Heaven Sword & Dragon Sabre', I'll read the 1st edition. I read that the ending of edition 1 has Zhou Ziruo repenting and didn't forbid Zhang Wuji to marry Zhao Min. It ended with ZWJ painting the eyebrow of ZM like the ending of 'New Heavenly Sword and Dragon Sabre 86'.

Had a great day travelling to Longqingxia 龙庆峡, around 1.5 drive distance from Beijing. It's really beautiful. Totally underrated! Or...perhaps this is just doesn't fit Chinese' taste?

No traffic jam from Beijing to LongQing Xia? No traffic jam when we departed at 8.30 AM. but when we wanted to go back to BJ, since it was the last day of the 3 days long weekend holiday....phew.... the bus was full that people had to queue in a long line. In the end we took a train to go back to BJ. but, our problem was not solved immediately. The train was full that we had to wait another 1.5 hours for the next train. And because it's a short distance trip, basically there's no seat numbers. People just ran to the train to get seats :S :S :S Chef, you should visit it next time you come to BJ. it's really beautiful!

I have been careless. I booked my flight tickets on line to Xi'an, and instead of returning on 9th November, I ended up buying a ticket to return home on 9th December. A whole month out!
Anyway, since the ticket was from a budget airline, it cost me about USD100 to rectify the problem. A new ticket would cost me about USD150, so sadly and reluctantly I forked out my hard earned money.
This trip had better be worth it. I have not done enough research for the trip, I shall have to dig through my book collection to see if I have anything on Xi'an. I hope so.
