Although I do like this adaption a lot better than the Seven Swords of Mount Heaven adaption, it does not follow ANY of the novels faithfully. In fact about 80% of the characters from the novels are missing, and only a handful are found here merged with one another. The three main actresses are perfect for the roles and very pretty. This adaption also shows how strong the heroines are, just like the way they are in the novels. Huang Biren as Lian Ni Chang is hilarious and even more stubborn than she is in any of the novels.
The most hilarious scene is when a child Yilan Zhu beats the crap out of Reverend Hui Ming and Lian Ni Chang claims no men in the world are good, then looks over to him and adds "except for him, he's good" with a child Yilan Zhu scratching her head wondering what's going on. Not written in any of the novels but definitely creates laughs. I will post all the inconsistencies later, there are way too many.

Never heard of this adaptation. Looks like this is the story of old Lian Ni Chang and focus more on Fei Hong Jin. Thanks for posting Soengyee

I like this TV adaptation too but I agree after reading the book that it doesn't follow SWQXZ the novel faithfully. Don't know about the other two books as I haven't read them yet. Some things to add: it is a Singapore-mainland China production but the main actresses and actors are from Singapore. Hamaya, Lian Nichang, Yang Yuncong and Nalan Minghui are all Singaporeans. The actor portraying Zhuo Yihang is from China and I think he looks good. Ann Kok, who plays Nalan Minghui, really lights up the series with her portrayal of Nalan Minghui - she's very sweet but strong at the same time. The main point of departure from the book is that Yang Yuncong now has a real love triangle with Hamaya and Nalan Minghui. He also meets her as a boy. In the book it isn't a real love triangle, his feelings for Hamaya are merely sisterly love. The screenwriters fleshes out the characters but in the meantime changes much of the storyline. But for me no matter - the novel is a bit thin and the screenwriters had cleverly chosen to "improve" the plot. I feel some overloud sound effects are a bit irritating but on the whole this series is definitely worth watching. I would like to know some of its inconsistencies too.
