i found a slightly different set of lyrics from a different site, and i think these are more correct--the line in question is definitely different, but it makes more sense: 靜靜聽著,愛人,我為你唱一首愛歌。 當你明晨醒過來,再也尋不到我的蹤影, 你會知道我己離你遠去。 愛人,不要怨我。 愛人,不要恨我。 我愿想與你消磨一生,無奈生命如此短促。 當你閉上眼睛,笑聲永遠留在耳邊。 我雖遠離,愛情永遠留在心中。 愛人不要悲傷,愛人不要絕望, 珍惜我倆真摯的愛情,你我會在天涯相逢。 now, if you were to translate this version, that line says "treasure our true love". i ran it through an online pinyin transliterator and got this: zhēn xī wǒ liǎng zhēn zhì dí ài qíng i hope this finally satisfies your nitpicking, reinafu . here's a karaoke version to verify the above lyrics (i find the karaoke versions tend to have more accurate lyrics vs online sites) also, i think the reason Admin isn't able to watch the videos is because of regional restrictions. so even if you link another video, i don't think she can watch it because she's in a different region of the world.

Last summer I went to the great wall, and this song kept on playing in head and really moved my heart. I think that the voice of Roman Tam is indeed suitable to sing the song.
Anyway, this song is part of LOCH theme song.

Admin awwwww, that's so lovely! the song is on the LOCH album, but it's not really a sub-theme for the series. back then, if they didn't have the required number of songs for an album, they would add other non-series-related songs, like this one.

I had that same experience; this song was in my mind when I was at the remnants of the Western end of the Great Wall in Autumn 2019. This line, 旧日城上个个好汉. 当中几多我姓 , I felt was especially poignant. "The good people on the Wall in the days of yore, how many were my kinsmen?"

i don't know if he was happy. he was definitely passionate about his art. i'm glad you're not bothered by his voice--many are, thinking that a guy's voice should be deeper, stronger, etc. as for the pronunciation, yes, canto is harsher on the ears than mandarin. I find his enunciation of Cantonese when singing is still accurate. I am a native Cantonese speaker, and I can appreciate him pronouncing the words in a Cantonese song properly. Jackie Cheung went to US (I believe) to learn from a famous western Opera singer. After that, his sing of Cantonese songs has a Western accent. I did not like it. The mouth and lips shape for Cantonese singing is not quite the same as for western vocalisation. I remember Adam Cheng mentioning in some HK TV programme that his version of "Book and Sword" title theme was a total imitation of Roman Tam's version. I was surprised to hear from Adam Cheng himself that Roman Tam was the first singer of that title theme. I have only ever heard Adam Cheng's version.

EDIT: found it--you'll find that the lyrics are slightly different from the leslie version, though in later karaoke versions, even concert versions, lee lung-kei sings the leslie version lyrics.

Is the western end of the great wall located in Gansu? how's the wall condition? I've been to the most east of the wall, and I plan to go the western end also when I have time.

I've been to the most east of the wall, and I plan to go the western end also when I have time. The wall was in a pretty poor condition, but it still stands after 1000 years. What was left was rather low, looks like it was made from rushes rather than bricks.

It seems that it's on this forum that someone told me that Roman Tam and Lydia Shum had paired for a while as singers (sorry, I didn't read again the whole thread...). I had the luck to get the following LP of them :
I just finished to listen to it and I ENJOYED IT A LOOOOOT !!!
Great singers, great songs, a pure gem !!

Ok, here is my question again.
I wanted to know if it's really Roman Tam who sings the superb song of the following movie during the credits (with beautiful lyrics, at least beautiful translated lyrics), and if anyone knows if this song is in the list of any of his cds/lps, please.
Here is the link to the movie (the song is also heard during the movie, and during the ending credits, but not in its while length) :
If it's not Roman Tam, can anyone tell me who is the singer, please ?

The more I listen to this song and the more it looks like it could have been used as a TV series theme and I wonder if it's the case... I LOVE IT !!
