How do you define "longest" ? Is it the story timeline, or the length of the book?
I've never read Api Di Bukit Menoreh, but I know it's very popular.
For wuxia, I think there's no such case when the story became too long that even the author could not finish the story. But there are stories which have a very long time span in the novel. For example the Tianshan series, the story span is from the late Ming Dynasty until the reign of Qianlong Empire of Qing Dynasty.

i believe that the honour goes to huan zhu lou zhu and his mt shu story, "Swordspeople of the Shu Mountains (蜀山劍俠傳)" (4.1 million characters), which was also unfinished. that's for one novel. if you're talking about a series of interrelated novels, then i don't know.

I'm reading 大秦帝国 - 5.4 millions hanzi and the book series come up in 17 pretty thick books. 4.1 millions will be at least 14 thick books. Anyway, what's the story all about? siuyiu ?

Huang Yi's Datang Shuanglong Zhuan (大唐雙龍傳) is also pretty darned long.
Possibly a toss-up between Shushan and Datang.

That sounds like an interesting name for a book. I have not heard of, nor read this book but I presume it must have been interesting because the many books had its fans. Personally, I am inclined not to take interest on this book if it is too long, and most of all, it does not have an ending by the author.
