Admin , thanks for the links. I have the physical books, but I'm sure the links can help some bored people out there! Your reading and watching plans are interesting. Maybe you can update us after you finish your books/TV series. Being bored, I have relied on postage service to deliver me CDs. Ridiculously, some news agencies have reported that the virus can live up to 17 days on surfaces. (The checks made on the Diamond Princess cruise.) I may have to rethink buying CDs due to this "fact." (Is it even true?) Anyway, Spotify can help some people pass time. Also, online TV series and ebooks for those keen on keeping up with the latest wuxia trends. Keep safe and be positive! Will update my series and books Btw, it's true that virus can live up in longer period on surfaces. But then you can always sanitize it with alcohol or hand sanitizer. Or Spotify is a good choice rather than physical one

siuyiu , Admin and yenchin , glad to know you all are kicking and well. This epidemic is here to stay, probably until a worldwide vaccine becomes available. Europe and the US are now the new epicenters, so everywhere, there will be import cases from returning residents. It's good that all three of you are working. The situations in Canada, Indonesia and Taiwan look not as bad and panicky as elsewhere. siuyiu , keep safe. Canada is not as densely populated as Europe or New York, so maybe the spread can be stifled more easily there. Keep safe and be positive! thanks! unfortunately, SARS happened far enough in the past that many of those disobeying physical distancing were either too young or not yet born! i thought canadians would've been better prepared, given that we did go through SARS. oh well.

France is in lockdown since the 16th of March (too late in my opinion, we should have done this earlier, right after the first cases of residents returning from China...). I haven't left my house since Saturday last week, and I'm a lottle bit afraid to fo out to go to the supermarket to buy goods, and I wonder if I won't order online...I still have some goods, so, the question is up as yet (except for bread and maybe toilet paper later), so, I still have time to think of a way to get gome goods without taking any risk...
I'm watching some Shaw Brothers' and old school kung fu movies, as well as musicals (tap dance), and I don't dare to order anything, since here, it's said that the virus stays on plastic surfaces for 3 days, on carton surfaces for 24 hours, 2 days on stainless steel, and 4 hours on copper...
Here, there are already more than 2000 deaths if I heard well, but Spain and Italy are the most touched, I think.
I hope that you'll all stay safe until the end of this dramatic situation.

Stay safe reinafu +41 79 893 18 92 that's the official Whatsapp from WHO. You can see a lot of information there. Wear mask will protect you when you go for groceries. So many information around, some are true, some are hoax and only make us more panic. I guess having peace in mind is one of the keys to good health and immune. Stay safe and take good care all!

Speak like Doraemon,’ Malaysian women were told. Now they are, and it is hilarious. Malaysians are reacting with hilarity to government marital advice they talk like a cartoon character to avoid arguments with their husbands during home lockdown. Many have taken to social media to mock the country’s Women and Family Development Ministry after it drew a backlash for encouraging women to giggle and sound like Japanese cartoon character Doraemon when speaking to their husbands. It also told women to apply make up when working from home. The ministry has since removed the four infographics comprising the PSA from its Instagram page and replaced them with an apology last night. Many recorded videos taking a jab at the ministry’s choice of a male cat robot from the future as a role model for Malaysian wives. Doraemon has a coarse voice in the Malaysian version of the cartoon show, which is voiced by actor Ruhaiyah Ibrahim. Ironically or not, Doraemon is usually performed by female voice actors. Malaysian actress Chelsia Ng did a pretty accurate Doraemon’s impression in a video posted to Instagram yesterday. She used the same dialogue the ministry gave as its example for women to say. “This is how you hang the clothes, my dear,” she says in the clip. The ministry had suggested that women speak in the character’s voice and giggle instead of nagging their husbands when they’re not doing things right. “Just in case you don’t know what Doraemon sounds like, he sounds a little bit like this,” Ng said before voicing the cartoon cat robot and waving around some laundry. “He has this kind of throaty voice.” Comedian Harith Iskander and his wife Jezamine Lim reversed roles for their video, with Harith taking on the part of Doraemon-wife. “Women don’t need to put on cartoon voices in their own homes to be heard,” he wrote in the caption. “And men shouldn’t accept this kind of narrative. More so now, than ever, we need to rise up to be a better version of ourselves. I am a man and I am proud of doing a Doraemon voice.” In a statement yesterday, the Women and Family Development Ministry apologized if the extremely backward tips were inappropriate or had offended certain groups. It also promised to be more careful in the future. malaysia.news.yahoo.com/speak-doraemon-malaysian-women-were-061726322.html?bcmt=1Admin

reinafu : If you have difficulty in finding mask, perhaps you can do it by yourself something like this (see at 1:00 onward). Can use hard plastic and foam to make something like that. The idea is to protect your mouth and nose.

Singapore has just announced a semi-lockdown. Schools and all non-essential shops will be closed starting from next week. I guess it has been heading in that direction for weeks. The community infection has been spiking for quite a while.
Amazingly, in the past few weeks, so many politicians and media have been trying to politicize this whole epidemic, be they from China, U.S., pro-U.S. factions like Australia and Britain, Taiwan as well as Europe. In this time when the whole world needs solidarity, this is only what the Western and Chinese media can come up with.
I have lost all faith in the U.S.A, whether in that nincompoop in the White House, his lackeys, or her partisan media which is finger-pointing at China. And I never harbored much hope about the Chinese government either.
I sometimes wonder if this coronavirus is God's punishment on bickering, petty humankind. I happen to be in a place where common sense and sanity still rule... unfortunately, it's just a small red dot on the map...

Also Singapore economy is pretty good, therefore social unrest is unlikely. I guess right now, all politicians are using this pandemic for their own personal gain/ popularity and interests anyway, I've never heard or read 'nincompoop' so I used google translate to find out the meaning, and here is the example of the word: America felt more comfortable with a nincompoop, or at least a lot of those who voted did. --->

I returned to my home country Indonesia a week before CNY, just before the outbreak was announced. The company I'm working for is hardly hit by this epidemic. Therefore before CNY, I have already started working from home. Indonesia seemed to be 'okay' at first. But then my flight to China was closed started in the first week of February. It was okay since my China office also prolonged it's CNY holidays. We officially started to work on February 3rd, delayed until 10th (suggested by the Chinese government.) Then the Chinese government suggested everyone work from home and have social distancing. We mostly work from home and rely on emails and conference calls to do our work. Right now Beijing and other cities in China are relatively okay. Business is getting back to normal. But some businesses such as travel industry, hotel, tourism are hardly hit by this outbreak and many of them have to lay off their employees, or cut down their salaries, or shut down the company for 3 months. Therefore although everything starts to be normal again, yet it's only 80-90% compared to the time before the outbreak. Then started around two weeks or ten days ago, Indonesia started this outbreak. Now the Indonesian govt. asks us to stay at home and WFH. Lockdown is impossible to be imposed in Indonesia since many people especially the low-income people can't work from home. Many of them are farmers, workers, restaurants, etc had their incomes from a daily or weekly basis. These people have to work otherwise they will not be able to live. Indonesian government put emphasize on social-distancing and order all religious activities to be shut down and no large gathering or crowds are allowed. But then again some people still ignore it. Also for the mask, perhaps only 30-40% use masks. It's because most people don't understand the risk, and also the mask is not only limited, but also very expensive that many people could not afford The government can't do anything to sellers or stores who sell masks at a very high unreasonable price. For me, I'm still working from home from my mom's house. I don't go out. Luckily it's a big house with pretty big yards. Do my work, and exercise at home. But the main problem is groceries. Really got headache with this. Apart from work, I use my time: 1. Watch series : * Cao Cao - the story about Cao Cao. * Ming Dynasty 1566 - I've been watching this even before CNY. I don't know why but I find it the language is pretty difficult for me. Therefore I need to slow down the pace and use many dictionary to understand. THis series is really good, mainly dialogues though. The story is about Emperor Jiajing - he was deemed as one of the useless Ming emperor, and an evil one. In this series, he's depicted as a passive aggressive emperor who manipulated his ministers to achieve what he wants. Smart, but evil. For those who loves to see political intrigues, should watch this series. * Want to watch Handsome Siblings 绝代双骄 2020. My sister says it's pretty good. Hopefully I won't get dissapointed. 2. Reading : * Reading a book about Xunzi - he's considered as the teacher of Li Si (Qin Shihuang's prime minister) and Han Fei - the greatest Legalism philosopher. A very good book. While Confucian philosophy is too 'lenient' while Legalism philosophy is too harsh, Xunzi's philosophy is right in the middle. I'm lucky that I could find a proper English translation ebook for free . I have the bilingual book (not with me now) and I find out that this English translation is very similar to my book. If anyone interested, just PM me, I could send the e-book. Highly recommended for those who are interested. 3. Practising calligraphy. Two months without practising calligraphy or painting, I finally got a brush to practice calligraphy. A lousy brush, but that's the only decent brush I could get by now. But I have no decent paper to practice, so I just use whatever paper I could use. But it's still better than nothing. Can't complain! Finally...hope everything gets back to normal. I believe this pandemic is only the beginning of a big financial crisis. Might be greater than 2008 crisis Stay safe and healthy and hope for the best! Indian police use violence against coronavirus lockdown offenders India struggles with coronavirus shutdown Admin siuyiuWas this punishment right to punish those who disobey ? Did you go out to buy food ?
