My painting of a swordsman (but without a sword) using pastel. kyc : since you mentioned that you're considering starting painting using pastel, so I show my drawing with pastel. The color is bright, that's the advantage of using pastel. But for painting characters, I have to say it's pretty hard. But of course, as long as you like it, then you will enjoy the process. I personally give up with pastel, since I have a problem with hand sweating. Therefore it's pretty difficult for me to work on pastel, as it's easily gets dirty. but again....the color produced by pastel is so vibrant.

Or soft pastels? I'm interested in pastels and will go into it maybe next year, but I'm: a) scared of toxic dust. Pastels are crumbly and some manufacturers use toxic pigments. I must do research to make sure I don't die from lung cancer, lol; b) soft pastels are very expensive, and pastel pencils aren't really for me. I don't think I'm a fine detail kind of guy, the style I aiming for is bolder and less detailed. So you're Ms. 蒋,失敬失敬。

Soft pastels are indeed very expensive, while pastel pencils the result is not as good as the chalk or the soft pastels. The advantage of pastel drawing is: the color is pretty bright and charming, especially for characters painting. I honestly give up pastels, as my hands are sweaty Acrylic painting is very fun and challenging, I just finish one painting (Ayunga again ), once I finish with the coating, I will show the picture. With the acrylic coating, an acrylic painting could look glossy like an oil painting. Acrylic paint is also much cheaper compare to oil paint.

This used : pencil, carbon pencil, and pencil color drawing. The difficulty level of painting with pencil, carbon and pencil color is 6/10. But as you can see, the face color can't be as bright or charming as pastel drawing.

The painting, are u selling it ? If yes, how much ? Hola, so far I have only sold my Chinese paintings. My character paintings, might be too expensive to sell. Not sure if anyboy wants to buy them. For example: those two pictures above, paint in 8k paper (29 cm x 39cm) , I could only sell them for at least CNY 700 (around USD 110). Characters painting is very difficult, particularly painting the eyes part is very difficult. Using hands to paint may only take tens of hours, but observing the objects usually takes more time. See this one : wuxiasociety.freeforums.net/thread/351/musics-listening-days?page=6 That Ayunga (my fave singer) painting, a fan of Ayunga saw my painting and offered me to buy it for CNY 3000, but I didn't want to sell it, since that's my first painting of Ayunga, I only give it to my mom, or if Ayunga himself wants it then I could give it to him. LOL. That painting took 18 hours, and I spent 4 hours only to get the result I want for the eyes. Compare it to my Chinese paintings, paint in 139cm x 69cm paper, with silk scroll frame, and it's just USD 120-200

Really beautiful, and great calligraphy on the paintings too. Surprised that you can do Chinese painting, but maybe I shouldn't be.
The Condor paintings look nicer than some of the Jin Yong cover art, lol.
