i stumbled by accident on a series called Luoyang 風起洛陽, and while i wasn't impressed with the story (typical political intrigue), i was blown away by the set design and how they portrayed luoyang as a capital city full of vibrancy--there were so many small details about the lifestyles and living standards of the time.
so, i'm wondering if anyone can recommend other series that also have great set designs and layouts that help viewers get immersed in the time period. thanks in advance!

You can try The Longest Day In Chang'an (長安十二時辰), a sleeper hit of 2019. A short feature on set design and authenticity:

You can try The Longest Day In Chang'an (長安十二時辰), a sleeper hit of 2019. A short feature on set design and authenticity: 70% of the budget went into props and production, with a 70 acre Tang Dynasty city - I would say this film has attracted my attention.

siuyiu : I would recommend the 大秦帝国 series, the first and the fourth part is the most accurate details in set and props. The fourth part (大秦赋) costumes and properties, are even done by collaboration with the Xi'an Terracotta Warrior Museums to produce the weapons, chariots, soldiers uniforms, etc. There are so many details that probably many people don't put attention, such as at that time the people were not commonly used chopstick to eat, but used their hands and forks and spoon. No lantern, but candles or oil lamps. The one piece clothings, hairstyle, the clothing colors, what they eat, etc. They're pretty much accurate and reflecting the Qin and Warring States Era.

Thanks for the additional recommendation, admin.
As is usual with me, I'm recommending a series I haven't really watched. But this one has so many good reviews, I feel pretty safe recommending it. If siuyiu and chefying ever get round to watching it, do let me know if it is that good. It's available on YouTube with multilingual subs, including English.
