kyc hatred is overall too strong a word, i agree. but what about the other aspects of misogyny, of contempt and prejudice? reduction, dismissal, and objectification definitely fall under the latter meaning. as you put it, gender inequality, that's what those are: ways where women are not treated as equally capable, as humans with flaws.
GL will not enter the discussion because the misogyny is blatant.
but for the "worship of women" that JY claims. firstly, as aforementioned: objectification. yes, XLN doesn't grow old. she also got raped. the "all the girls fall for the hero" trope very much condoned. cheng ying and lu wuxiang stay unmarried, pining for yang guo; guo xiang pines for yang guo so much, she becomes a nun. duan yu's mother hated her husband's womanizing ways, but when it comes to her son, she encourages him: "you like all of your adopted father's daughters? okay, marry them all!" wen yi and stockholm syndrome. yang buhui admonishes her father for seducing her mother, but then self-sacrifices to "right the wrong" by taking up with her mother's spurned fiance who is most definitely old enough to be her father.
as for the evil women, it seems only the bitter crone that heads e'mei is power-hungry and ruthless, but who knows if she, like the founder of e'mei, didn't get scorned by love that turned her into a villain. mei chaofeng and li mochou most definitely became embittered because of men: the former becoming widowed and the latter losing her man to another woman.
wei xiaobao will note enter the discussion because he was purposely written to be an anti-hero. the question is why define an anti-hero thusly.
LYS has created strong women, but what of their fates? li shengnan couldn't have the man's heart, so she kills herself, and in the process, also denying another woman from having said man, who isn't a sunshine and rainbows type of hero in any case. lian nichang is one of the strongest LYS creations, yet she falls for a spineless fuddy-duddy who breaks her heart and causes her to withdraw from society in despair.
WDL's yu xiulian must pine for li mubai because he "respects" her too much to be her lover.
does knowing there's misogyny inherent in wuxia mean i hate wuxia and can't enjoy it? obviously not, or i wouldn't be on this forum. but i'm cognizant of certain flaws and perpetuated tropes that prejudice against women and minorities. i accept them as part of the wuxia universe but it doesn't mean i condone it.
