My memory is rather rusty so I don't know if I remember correctly. If I'm not mistaken in this TVB series Louis Koo acts as Ding Pang. And this story was written by Gu Long. Ding Pang had the qualities of a fierce anti-hero. If my description of the TVB series is correct, then did the original novel feature Ding Pang as an anti-hero?

This novel is not completely by Gu Long. When I read it I don't find Ding Peng that different from many GL heroes or even someone like Yang Guo. I did notice the fall in quality once the ghostwriter takes over, which is quite apparent.

I watched God Of Sabre TVB 1979 and read some of the novel. The story is about Ding Peng - a young swordsman who had an enmity with a guy called Liu. Ding Peng who had learned his martial art, challenged Liu for a duel. And Liu, who found out that Ding Peng had learned a superb sword skills, sent his wife to seduce Ding Peng. Ding Peng who was just a naive young man, fell into the trap. He leaked his sword skills secret to the woman - Liu's wife.
When the d-day come for the duel, Liu accused Ding Peng of stealing his sword skills manual. Ding Peng was humiliated, and heartbroken when he knew that the one who betrayed him was Liu's wife. He swore to take revenge. Then he got to know Qing Qing a very awesome girl - a daughter of a family who had hidden their identity for a long time. From Qing Qing he got the the curved-moon blade and the blade skills. He managed to take revenge on Liu. But he lost Qing Qing who died ( I forgot how)
For the adaptation God Of Sabre TVB 1979 the story just stopped until there. BUt the novel....it ruined everything. Later on in the novel, GL turned Qing Qing character from a beautiful nice girl, into a bitchy woman. I honestly don't continue the novel. Ruining all of my image about DP and Qing Qing.

It's the ghostwriter Sima Ziyan! I heard he also plagiarized from The Count of Monte Cristo, but I was already past caring by then.

Anyway, one of the scene in God of Sabre 1979 (I forget the novel) is plagiarized The Godfather - the scene with the horse head lied on the bed. But this one is a parrot own by that Liu.
