Watch the square shaped patterns on their robes and see what animal it is to figure out what their rank was while they were still alive!

What are some examples of old Jiangshi movies? Thanks! You can do a search for one actor named Lam Ching Ying. He acted in a lot of Jiangshi movies.(He acted as Qu Yang in Swordsman)

Mr. Vampire (殭屍先生), starring Lam Ching Ying, Ricky Hui and Chin Siu-ho, is the granddaddy of all jiangshi movies. It was released in 1985. As for the great-granddaddies, you have to research them yourself.

Watch the square shaped patterns on their robes and see what animal it is to figure out what their rank was while they were still alive! You have a point there! I have not taken notice of this before. I had just assumed that in the Vampire movies, the square patterns on their robes were all the same.

I had just assumed that in the Vampire movies, the square patterns on their robes were all the same. They might end up being the same in certain movies if the costume department is lazy and wants to recycle costumes only.

"square shaped patterns on their robes and see what animal it is to figure out what their rank" What are the animals, the ranks, and their ordering?

You can clearly see that the three Jiangshi here were from the royal family while they were still alive.
