*scratches head* why are xiao yuanshan and xiao feng included in this family tree? also, you may want to separate duan zhengchun's daughters--makes it seem like WYY, MWQ & ZL are from the same mother. otherwise, good job!

*scratches head* why are xiao yuanshan and xiao feng included in this family tree? --> to show that Xiao Feng is also a brother in law of Duan Yun

Admin, it must have taken you quite a while to prepare the chart of the Duan family.
I know it is not easy, I did it for the Taiji branches. The only way for me to have it done as to create a Word Document and do it there.
As I look at it, I now realise Duan Yu - who finally mastered the Liu Mai Jian Fa - was the grandfather to Duan Zhixing (who later became Monk YiDeng). I understand Monk Yi Deng did not know Liu Mai Jian Fa - he practiced the One Yang Finger*. I feel the One Yang Finger is not as potent as the Liu Mai Jian Fa. If I am correct, then it would probably mean that that the Liu Mai Jian Fa got lost between Duan Yu and Monk Yi Deng
* I practice the One Yang Finger too - except that I use my middle finger, and I use it only when I am really annoyed. It has an effective range of quite a distance. I am able to evoke certain hormonal imbalance in the bodies of my intended victims from quite a distance when I poke up my middle finger.

Admin oh, of course! silly me! chefying yes, your One Yang Finger technique is definitely a long-range type of weapon.

third edition DGSD, no more wang yuyan as one of duan yu's wives , replace to a woman name Xiao Lei Is this true? I thought Wang Yuyan was still one of his wives (though not eventually made the Empress)?

I thought Wang Yuyan was still one of his wives (though not eventually made the Empress)? True. WYY no longer marries DY on the third edition. I don't remember the girl called Xiao Lei. But somehow DY basically got Zhong Ling, and other women who are Xu Zhu's maids. JY mentioned the reason why he decided to let WYY return to MRF and take care of him although MRF become crazy. It's because WYY was such an opportunist girl on the first and second edition. And that she kind of "accept" DY after MRF totally despised and neglected her. on the third edition, he made WYY and Ah Bi as virtuous women who really loved MRF, although MRF and Murong family had totally fallen. I personally like the third edition ending. Poor DY...but instead of having one woman, he got total of 6 women in total. I heard that men prefer quantity over quality when it comes to women. So there he goes...DY got what he wants

So there he goes...DY got what he wants I think the main problem with the third edition is that JY's whole idea of WYY changed. If WYY was based on Xia Meng, in his 80s JY was no longer as infatuated as he once was. So he became more disgusted with her. I think the whole idea that WYY is an opportunistic girl is untrue. After all, she does not like Murong Fu for his wealth or his fame. She's merely a deluded young girl who falls for her cousin. And why is she opportunistic when she returns to Murong Fu when he is crazy and his family fallen? I don't feel much for WYY, but I don't feel much for Duan Yu either. And I suppose JY always have something for girls who love men endlessly, even though they are villains...

Anyway, WYY was considered as opportunistic in the first and second edition as she just picked up DY after MRF dumped her. That's what most DGSD readers mostly believed. Our old wuxiasociety forum back in 2005/6 had a long discussion about this one. And that's the conclusion hehehe She's not considered as opportunist anymore on the 3rd edition, actually a lot of people respect and like her more on the 3rd edition rather in 1st or 2nd edition. Pity on her, yes. But like and respect her more.

But if I'm not mistaken, when I read the chinese version a few years ago, the number of 6 women including those who died - such as Mu Wanqing. Mu Wanqing was posthumously considered as DY's first wife.

Mu Wanqing is still alive untill the end . i think u read fanfic or something. 3rd edition.

Pity on her, yes. But like and respect her more. Xia Meng was Jin Yong's muse, an actress at Great Wall Movie Enterprise. He quit his job as a journalist once to become a scene director there because of Xia Meng. That Jin Yong was infatuated with Xia Meng is an open secret. It was rumored that he professed his love for her once, but they could not be together as both were married. Xia Meng rejected him politely. It is also an open secret that Jin Yong's radiantly beautiful women were all based on this "dream lover". One word in support of Wang Yuyan. If I'm not wrong, even in the 2nd edition after conversion to Duan Yu, she is nearly killed by her cousin and willing to die with Duan Yu. How can she said to be "opportunistic"? I don't care much for WYY, but I find it strange people hate her so much. But I feel that the fault lies in Jin Yong. Other than her beauty, WYY isn't really a very likeable or 3-D character.
