I read somewhere a few years ago that JY's favorite work is Xiao Ao Jiang Hu (The Smiling Proud Wanderer). Honestly, I don't see LHC as an interesting character. He's carefree, that's what he was, no other else. He was so broken when he knew that Yue Lingshan didn't love him. And he drank too much because of it. So..what's the positive trait of this guy? Can anybody tell me?

i'm just speculating, since i haven't read the books: i think the book is JY's favourite not because of the lead character but the politics and hypocrisies in the background--between sects, between so-called good guys and bad guys, and such. and given that setup, i guess the appeal/positive trait of LHC is that he wasn't/couldn't be corrupted by the people around him. just my two-cents.

siuyiu : icic. I read the book. And to be honest, LHC was so lame. If he's not drunk, he's injured. Sigh. I really don't remember he did something really useful like that of GJ or ZWJ.

Probably just to capitalize on the Dugu 9 Sword in Swordsman 1 and 2 at that time. Although there might be a Dugu Qiu Bai reference from ROCH since the Dugu 9 Sword in this movie was implemented using a big heavy sword in a pre-Sung(?) dynasty era. No mention of usage of any other jian or condors though.
