apparently, everyone's being too shy to be first! well, i'll start, then!
hero: LXF (he cracks me up) heroine: guo xiang (yes, i know she's not the lead, but she's more "heroic" than a LOT of so-called "heroes")

I haven't read enough wuxia books to be able to choose a favourite hero or heroine, but, according to all the wuxia series I watched, some of my book heroes would be Chu Liu Xiang, Yang Kang, Zhang Wuji, Zhao Min and the character played by Wong Hang Sau in Legend of the unknowns (I still have to watch this one, but the pictures I saw when I tested the discs make me believe that she will be one of my favourite heroines),and I guess that the more I'll watch (or read, if I have the luck to find the time to read more), the more I'll find other favourite heroes and heroines...

cecilia plays he yufeng (ho yuk-fung) in legend of the unknowns. and iiiiiiinteresting about yang kang--those who've read the books hate his guts! michael miu's portrayal is definitely non-canon.

Well, the only Yang kang I saw is Louis Koo in The condor heroes 1995. It's true that sometimes, his behaviour was a little bit annoying, but I enjoyed his character in this series.
Maybe that when (if ?) I'll read the book, I'll hate Yang Kang !!

Shame on me, I just realized that I mistook Yang Kang for Yang Guo, you're right ! Of course, I dislike Yang Kang : I read a French translation of Yang Kang and Guo Jing's adventures (I haven't finished the book as yet...)and I was furious against him when I read his evil deeds !!
Thanks for the link, I'll try it when I'll be on holidays.

Here are the books I owe in French : you-feng.com/jin_yong_legende_heros_chasseur_aigles.phpyou-feng.com/jin_yong_legende_heros_chasseur_aigles_2.phpIt seeems that there are missing scenes in this translation (and I read a comment about this on amazon) because sometimes, there strange scenes that seem misplaced in the book, or right in the middle of a fight, there are sentences such as " Murong won the battle and reunited with Guo Jing " and thne, it's another chapter and we don't know wha happened exactly during the fight... you-feng.com/justicier_aigle_mythique_tome1.phpyou-feng.com/justicier_aigle_mythique_deux_jin_yong.phpyou-feng.com/justicier_aigle_mythique_trois_jin_yong_weidong.phpyou-feng.com/justicier_aigle_mythique_4.phpI wonder if these four books are the real sequel of the two previous ones or if there are other titles betweens these two series, because the first two ones don't talk of what happened to Yang Kang and Mu Nianci and the other heroes and at the end of the vol 2, it's mentioned that there are books regarding this matter, so, I'm not sure to have the whole series. I also read that there is titles such as La jeunesse du héros chasseur d'aigles and Le retour du héros chasseur d'aigles, but I never saw these titles in libraries nor on the internet... you-feng.com/recherche.php?recherche=gu%20longyou-feng.com/epopee_des_trois_royaumes_4.phpyou-feng.com/luo_guan_zhong_epopee_3_royaumes_3.phpyou-feng.com/luo_epopee_trois_royaumes_2.phpyou-feng.com/luo_epopee_trois_royaumes_1.phpI have to buy the volume 5 (last one) of this title. I also have in French language : an abridged version of Journey to the West all volumes of Robert Van Gulik's Judge Bao Dream of the Red Chamber by Cao Xueqin Three books of poems of Song, Tang and Shi Jing Wang Dulu : Hè Jīng Kūn Lún (鶴驚崑崙), littéralement La grue effraie Kunlun Bǎo Jiàn Jīn Chāi (寶劍金釵), lit. Épée d'acier et épingle à cheveux dorée in four volumes : La Vengeance de Petite Grue, 2007 La Danse de la Grue et du Phénix, 2008 Li Mubai, l'épée précieuse, 2009 Yu Xiulian, l'épingle d'or, 2009 It seems that the editor doesn't plan to release the other volumes of the series... I think that it's all that I owe at this moment, but searching the links in order to post this list, I saw that Journey to the West has also been released in French, as well as Jin Ping Mei and maybe other ones that I don't remember.

reinafu thanks for sharing the links! nice summaries for the books, though i find it intriguing that LOCH is 2 vols while ROCH is 4. i'd need to double-check, but i always thought LOCH was the longer story. how do you find the translations? can you get a sense of writing style and flow? or is the language clunky because it's a translation? sorry to hear that there may be bits missing--did they specify if the translations were abridgements as well? so, the first 3 CLX books have been translated! that's good! they form a trilogy, so good that all 3 are available. the other 4 are separate stories, though with the same cast of lead characters, of course. not all are as well-written, IMO. only the bat prince one equals the 1st 3. L'épopée des trois royaumes is the translation of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, which is definitely not a sequel to LOCH/ROCH and not considered wuxia at all! like 7 Heroes & 5 Gallants, it's more historical fiction. chefying's been talking about RotTK in this thread, incidentally: wuxiasociety.freeforums.net/thread/415/romance-kingdoms (and i've given myself a little pat on the back for understanding the french summaries without needing google translate. )

reinafu i'm guessing, based on their titles alone, that "La jeunesse du héros chasseur d'aigles" is fanfiction, whether official (published book by another author) or unofficial (online FF), and"Le retour du héros chasseur d'aigles" is just the alternate title of "Le Justicier et l'Aigle mythique", since the english translation is return of the eagle hunter hero, i.e., ROCH. according to wiki, the actual trilogy for LOCH/ROCH is called "L’Épée céleste et le sabre du dragon". no idea if a translation has been completed. fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/L'%C3%89p%C3%A9e_c%C3%A9leste_et_le_Sabre_du_dragon
