so... was SDYXZ written as a criticism of blind nationalism or did JY suffer from the same bias as GJ? siuyiu, I think JY has the same bias during the time he wrote LOCH. You can see his viewer slowly changed in his later novels. This discussion makes me think of Zhang Dan Feng. He grew up in Mongolia but he would rather die in the Han land and die as a Chinese. What gives? All the years he stayed in Mongolia (he most probably was born there as well), he developed no love for the country and the land there? No friends? He was the son of a minister of high position in Mongolia, so, he would not be treated badly. (Note: I have not finish the book, so, I don't know if ZDF would explain the reason later) i won't spoil the book for you! not that i'm defending ZDF, but his situation and GJ's is different. GJ's mom was being hunted, and she would've died if the mongols hadn't taken her in, offered her protection, gave her the resources to raise her son. the issue of loyalty does become blurred because his mom and his shifus always told him to remember he was han. but genghis khan did look favourably on him, so when it came to choosing sides, it does seem like a bigger betrayal of the mongols--the song government never offered him anything, never asked him to fight on their side. GJ simply chose the han over the mongols. with ZDF, the relationship with oirat is different. his family was using oirat as an ally to fight and hopefully eventually defeat the ming, partly as revenge and partly to revive their failed dynasty. and the khan was aware of this. he did have a change of heart in terms of his intents to defeat the ming, and his reasons are explained. i'll let you find out the whys and wherefores.

I never heard of this name before . Is he no good guy as you say he using the Mongol . Well Guo Jing shall follow Wei Xiao Bao example ,leave the wulin world and settle in a other place by not choosing side between Mongol and Han . Guo Jing is based on real history person Guo Kan but with opposite personality en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guo_Kan
