sorry, i completely forgot about this thread! have made some updates. my history is spotty, and this is by no means a comprehensive history of china or the world. i'm especially ignorant about the histories of south-east asia, so contributions very welcome! and corrections, obviously!

Can't imagine how massive the Mongolian Empire, Russian and Qing Empire. and how did they maintain their sovereignty in the world without telephone and internet. During the war between Qing (Kangxi)and Dzungar (Galdan), Kangxi then realized that the Tibetan lied and concealed the death of the Dalai Lama for almost nine years. By that time, Tibet was already under the rule of Qing Dynasty.

added some more items of interest (mostly european for now). wow, the ming and qing encompassed the history of modern europe from the renaissance to early 20th century, spanning the various revolutions (french, american, industrial, scientific) and all of "classical music" from baroque to neo-classicism! doesn't THAT put things into perspective.
