Hello,I have a question,Is Yong Tik Sum ,The father of Yong Hong (Yang Kang)and grandfather of Yang Gor A direct descendant of Mok Kwai Ying( wife of Yong Zhong Bo)from General Yang family.
I ask this because Yong Tik Sum kungfu was so inferior while Mok Kwai Ying kungfu was so superior plus she know magic and I think she could even defeat Dugu Qiubai ,Xiao Feng without even get injured.Do you agree with this?
If yes ,Why she don't pass her kung fu to her descendant ?
Did the novel mentions Yong Tik Sum a descendant from Mok Kwai Ying?
Thanks.

there's definitely the implication that yang tiexin/yeung teet sum was a descendant of that famous family, though i'm not certain if he was a direct descendant of mok kwai ying and yeung gwun po. the spear that he wields is the biggest clue of his heritage. as to why his martial arts can't compare, well, there's the symbolism of the weakened song gov't plus the concept of martial arts descendants never quite reaching the same level as their masters and their masters' masters because of the inherent selfishness of the system wherein the student can never surpass the master and the master purposely withholding certain skills so that they remain the superior wielder of the MA. heroes in wuxia novels who stumble upon a great, forgotten manuscript or who establish their own schools are the exception to the reality.
can someone with better knowledge about the books confirm if YTX is the direct descendant of MGY?

In LOCH, YTX mentioned himself that he was a descendant of Yang Zaixing, a Southern Song general known for his fighting prowess.
As the wiki page mentions, a Qing Dynasty novel linked him to the Yang General Family, plus YTX also uses the Yang Family Spear, so fictionally there might be some connection.
(Which made me kind of pondering for years on why Jin Yong didn't mention YTX as a descendant of Yang Zhi, the "Blue Faced Beast" of the Water Margin, since Yang Zhi is stated as a descendant of the Yang General Family, further bonding the Yang and Guo families. I guess JY didn't want to make the lineage of characters too similar.)

If you guys watch the Great Yang General series 1995, the very ending talking about the Son of general Yang Wen Guang might describe more of Yang Guo origin?
It doesn't seems like there is much written about the son of general Yang Wen Guang.
