I have been watching bits of it. Eastern Heretic is excellent - the actor, the makeup and attire I did not like Northern Beggar - the actor is wrong for the role, he is so young looking, smooth skin and all despite having white eyebrows etc. stuck on him. I have not seen Southern Emperor, but Western Poison is OK. Does not look that scheming and evil to me though. Totally agree with you about Northern Beggar. It's kinda funny to see his smooth skin despite having white hair and eyebrows. have you finished watching it?

I am still watching bits of it here and there when I can catch it on the TV. this is my peak work period.

I have just read that the actor playing as Oua Yang Feng in this 2017 version is also the actor for Jin Lion Si Xun in the new Yi Tian Tu Long Ji. For some reason I couldn't recognize him as Oua Yang Feng though?
It seems he have been in many of Jin laoshi drama series tv editions. From Condor Heroes Yang Guo to Condor Heroes Guo Jing to another Condor Heroes Yang Guo?
He was twice played as Jin Lun Guo Shi?

i finally got around to skimming the bits of this adaptation that i was interested in. so, some comments based on what i've seen:
- shallow acting all 'round: the leads don't do a bad job, but you don't really see them becoming the characters; young GJ is not a hard role, the difficulty comes in seeing him becoming guo daxia, and the actor couldn't do it; HR is cute but not much beyond that--there's a snarkiness and mischievousness to HR that the actress can't manage to convey - bit disappointed in both HYS and YD--they are good actors but just miscast; ironically, i think the young michael miu who played YK would've been more believable than the aged actor - H7G and ZBT are awful; YK lacks princely aura - i have found my OYF! the actor doesn't quite have the level of venom that could have enhanced the role, but he's got a presence and a gravitas that i've never seen in a previous performance; yeung chak-lam was always a wooden actor, but his portrayal was good enough for the longest time; but now they've finally cast a good actor for the role
