When I first watched " Of monks and masters, Murder at the lending house ", I found that the end was a little bit strange, but when I discovered that there are other opus of " Of monks and masters ", I guessed that this was a kind of series and I wasn't wrong, since the beginning of this second movie shows the last images of the first movie, where the servant who murdered people and was in jail manages to escape.
Then, we see the " monk investigator " in a new adventure. I finally understood his character's name : Li Shao Bai (or Yi Shao Bai, I'm not sure). He goes in another town in order to find a friend and he meets a mysterious girl travelling with a strange guy and a group of lamas.
After a lot of twists, it appears that the monk in this other town is the girl's father and that she wants to kill him (without knowing that it's her father ) in order to get revenge for her family murder 19 years ago, but not only the monk is her father, but also her mother isn't dead.
It then appears that the strange guy is no on else than the murderer of the first movie, who is looking for something hidden in a hidden tomb in the monastery and he forces the monk to show him the secret of the tomb if he doesn't want that he kills his daughter.
In this movie, there are more fights than in the first one, mainly fights between the monk (who uses a kind of tai chi, if I'm not mistaken) and the bad guys and even after breaking his own arms, he is still victorious.
The story was more interesting than in the first movie, but it's still too slow with too much dialogues and not enough fights for my taste, but it's still a good entertainement and I'm impatient to watch the other movies of the series...
Though the movie is in Mandarin, the actors don't have the same accent I'm used to listen to when I watch Shaws' movies or TVB series and it's a little bit difficult for me to fully understand what is going on in these movies, so, sorry if my descriptions are a little bit " light " ...
