龍飛鳳舞 (Taiwanese/Hokkien/Min-nan series with Chinese subs) www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL02zpjjwMEjr5bAwVCU5U6glMqV89E6xsI think I'll just label this series as a historical. But it's more like a hybrid of Kung-Fu, historical, and soap drama. The series debuted in 2014, and compared to the heydays of Taiwanese/Hokkien series back in early 2000, the mainstream Taiwanese/Hokkien series have become low quality with long hours of recycled plots on all weekdays, in three to four hundred plus episodes. The Dragon Dance series tried to bring in some freshness, and while it did well, eventually they seemed to go back to the path of daily soap and I guess the production costs or some other reasons took their toll, and the series ended with 205 episodes. (Seriously, if a series is broadcasted 2.5 hrs/day, 5 days/week, with hundreds of episodes, and not to mention that they're often plotted on site, even the most talented team would be milked dry.) Ep1 On the same channel and with some same actors as in Dragon Dance, there were the series Ching Lung (in which Ti Lung appeared in the first episode, if I'm not mistaken) and another one wichi title escaped to me at this moment, but that looked interesting too. It's there that I discovered Victor Huang and the other actor named Victor something. One of this series had 273 episodes. I got them on my computer and took a look from time to time and thought that it's a pity that days aren't longer in order to be able to watch all the movies and series I have...

Ep1 I have to add that Taiwanese/Hokkien dramas (dubbed into Mandarin) are popular among the older Singaporeans. My Mom is a fan. The plot is so long that the current Taiwanese drama at 7 p.m. weekends, 春花望露, have been running since May 2018. The previous two Taiwanese dramas had occupied the same time slot for a decade. I really don't get why they are so popular. I agree with Yenchin: they lack originality, and are no better than soap operas. Unfortunately, they did influence Singapore dramas into making some super-long series. (Luckily, the trend seems to have ended now. As an aside, Singapore TV series are also suffering from lack of originality, indifferent scriptwriters, and low viewership.)
