Mongol Invasion of Java AdminYes, Kubilai Khan did try. But then the king of Java scratch the face of the Mongolian ambassador and managed to send them away. Mongolian should have known their own limit, they're good in horseriding, and they were really good and managed to conquer almost half of the Asian and European, but they should have never tried to expand by sea. They failed miserably when they tried to invade Japan and Java.

It always seemed to me that Mongolia didn't do well in the other parts of Southeast Asia as well. To be frank, neither did any period of the Chinese Empire in whole Just take a look at this list of " Nations not to be Conquered" compiled by the Taizu Emperor of Ming and basically all of SEA is on it.
