you know i'm an old fart when it comes to theme songs--so yes, i'm looking at stuff pre-1990. this is the themesong of the shaw brothers production of HSDS (1978), starring Derek Yee-Tung Sing. sung by Roman Tam.

I'll leave whole OSTs aside and just list a few favourite songs...
Normally, I can't stomach canto-pop. I'm a rocker and most HK pop-music (there ARE some notable excpetions, of course) makes my ears bleed. (To be fair, so does most mando-pop). But I'll never tire of this one:
But generally speaking, this is waaaay further up my alley (music-wise, I'm a Beijinger and effin' proud of it...;-)):
BTW, the opening was absolutely lovely as well:
Wu ji is a somewhat inconsistent film in terms of quality. But I love it nonetheless. It has a heart of gold, even if one has to get through a lot of unnecessary ballast to reach for it. In any case, its ending credits theme is one of the most sublime songs I've ever heard at the end of a film:
"Freedom of the Wa" really sells everything that's awesome about that flawed little gem of a movie.
The Red Cliff main theme. Nothing extraordinary but it does what it sets out to do extremely well. And it never fails to improve my mood...:-)
