I recommend this film if you have a chance to see it.
This film is based on a true story about natural disasters and famine that happened in China in 1959. As a result, there were thousands of children became orphans, or were sent by their parents to orphanage because they could not feed the children. Chinese Premiere Zhou Enlai then announced these orphans as the children of the state, and called out many provinces to help to donate for these children. Yet the famine was so severe and it's all across the whole country. At the crucial moment, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region devised a program for local families to adopt the children. The program helped an estimated 3,000 orphans between 1960 and 1963. The youngest children were merely one month old, and the oldest were around seven when they were sent to Inner Mongolia. From southern China, and then sent to Inner Mongolia and adopted by herdsmen nomadic families - definitely was not easy at all.
The film mostly in Mongolian language and shot in Inner Mongolia. The scenery, story plot, etc. is really good.
It's a sad touching movie though.
