As suggested by the Admin, I am reviving another old thread from the previous forums. Yes, the wuxiasociety forum has had many an incarnation. This one is about real locations in wuxia books. I have been fortunate to visit a few places related to sites mentioned in wuxia literature. Since my preferred writer is Jin Yong, most of my photos will have references to his books. siuyiu has some very interesting photos and maps - I hope she has retained them! Allow me to start with photos of my visit to Wudang Shan in 2004. It was a long walk up, so I took the cable car. ah yes, the other popular thread on the old WS forum! as i recall, you started that one as well, chef, so good that you're doing it here! i do indeed still have the pics, so i'll post them here. now... it's a question of whether i remember what's where in china... i guess i, too, will start with pictures taken from my own trips. but before i do that, here's a map i drew to pinpoint locations of famous spots in china: this is huang shan (THE most beautiful place i've visited to date): this is lotus peak, one of the three highest places in the huang shan range (the one behind is one of the remaining two, but its name escapes me): more pics of the stunning yellow mountains: other pics of huang shan that i found googling:
