so, trawling through the list of novels by author both here and elsewhere (e.g. baidu), looks like GL 古龍 and YZY 雲中岳 are tied at 80 novels apiece (if you include the ghost-written ones by GL's friends & students).
the winner of most prolific, though, goes to Chen Qingyun 陳青雲 and Cao Ruobing 曹若冰 at 106 each, followed by Zheng Zhengyin 鄭證因 at 88 and Dugu Hong 獨孤紅 with 84.
So,
other famous but not as prolific writers:
Jing Rong 金庸 at 15 Ping Jiang Bu Xiao Sheng 平江不肖生 at 13
apologies for inaccuracies! and this is not a comprehensive list--i left out a lot of authors plus a few whose total count couldn't be determined.

You can't go by that, a lot of those books by those authors, such as Cao Ruobing, are actually other authors' novels just using Cao Ruobing's name. Very common in wuxia. Probably over 200 just with Wolong Sheng's name.

The oldrain forums have some threads where people point out fakes, but it's an ongoing discovery. There was a big thread there for Cao Ruobing, for example. Jin Yong, Gu Long, and Liang Yusheng novels are also published under different authors' names with different titles. It's a real mess.

Lone Crane oh well, it is what it is. the chinese have always been behind when it comes to concepts of intellectual property. i wonder if the version of TLBB that ni kuang ghostwrote while JY was on holiday survives. NK got a huge scolding from JY about messing up the storyline, LOL!

how about Gong Baiyu, how many does he have? Gong Baiyu is listed as "Bai Yu", so it's about 20 novels.
