at least abridged version is still better than nothing. finding someone to translate sword stained with royal blood, the last Jin Yong's book which never been translated to english, is frustating. once i asked a translator service to translated SSRB, and he/she ask a translation fee about $800 it's far out of my budget league Is this not translated into Bahasa Indonesia? What are the JY novels not translated into Indonesian? And I thought they even translated the fake Gu Longs too. of course it has been translated to bahasa indonesia, even all Gulong novels are available in bahasa indonesia. but i dont like it, indonesian translation usually: - use old indonesian language - use hokkien name for character, martial arts, organization, sect, etc - 1st edition of novel which make me uncomfortable to read it.

I'm confused. How can they be translating the 1st edition? You mean the serialized edition? Like Yang Guo's mother is not Mu Nianci and Zhou Zhiruo retires as a nun?

Like Yang Guo's mother is not Mu Nianci and Zhou Zhiruo retires as a nun? yes, that one, that's why some indonesians are in-favor of first edition, and dislike the revision, because they read the first ed. they said something like "the revision is not original, or not 100% the author's intention, revised after reader's request , etc" the golden era of wuxia stories in indonesia was 60-80s, so all translators used 1st edition. how big at that time? a major famous novel title (like HSDS) had about 3-4 different version of translators, then from those, published into 10-20+ different covers (sometimes with minor edit or fix, different publishers/printing house, re-print, etc) unfortunately, the era was declining then, especially after 1998's incident. so far, only one translator used edition other than 1st ed, which is Robi wijaya's version (gramedia printing).

At least you have choices. But the 2nd edition is generally considered better than the first. It shouldn't be too difficult to edit them to make them 2nd edition.

I realized that Jin Yong once said ROCH was a failure. He originally wanted to make Xiaolongnv die and let Yang Guo marry Guo Xiang. Then the readers all revolted and even threw stones outside Ming Pao, so he had to resurrect XLN.
Does anyone actually like his original idea?

Then the readers all revolted and even threw stones outside Ming Pao, so he had to resurrect XLN. Does anyone actually like his original idea? wow...this is the first time I heard about JY's original idea. Hmm...I don't think I like this idea. I know that it's basically a good idea, as it would actually connect the family connection between the GUo and the Yang families. But with YG's character and his childhood experience, it would be hard to imagine that he would marry Guo Xiang. Most likely he would be single and roamed around the world; or after he did his mission (killed the Mongolian prince who attacked Xiangyang), he would committed suicide.

The translated big book versions of The Deer and the Cauldron renamed Fa Kuat Ming Jeong(Bone-melting palm, dunno the Mandarin name) as Soft Style Karate if I'm not mistaken. Actually I really hope I was mistaken since it was such a weird renaming and I would rather stick to a more accurate translation/renaming. So did Kangxi defeat Oboi with Hard Style Taekwondo? [img alt=" " class="smile" . I forgot with what kungfu did Kangxi and WXB defeated Oboi. But Kangxi was an adept wrestler (bugu in Manchu language). He and WXB practiced wrestling instead of kungfu. So surely it's not a soft style karate.

Guo Xiang was JY's favorite character, so he clearly liked her a lot.
The original idea was for ROCH to have a very tragic flavor, so XLN had to die. When she couldn't, JY makes her ageless and beautiful again. But I think JY really thought his original idea was better.

Anyway, I just finished a painting of Yang Guo in gongbihua style. But I painted an eagle instead of a giant condor. LOL.

A condor looks very ugly and an eagle looks much better aesthetically.

Andy Lau's famous Yang Guo with his dark blue robe and white hair band So I'm inspired to paint Ayunga in dark blue robe and white hair band, a black horse and some eagles. (oil painting, 40 cm x 50 cm)

This one, Yang Guo with an eagle. It's in gongbihua style. Gongbihua is the most difficult painting method that I've ever learned so far. Can not make any mistake. A single mistake, and probably the painting should just be discarded.

It could be one of those unsubstantiated rumors floating around the internet. On second thoughts, it seems unlikely that 俠侶 in the title means "Yang Guo + XLN" and "Yang Guo + Guo Xiang". And none of JY's biographers seems to have mentioned this (not that I have read any).

According to JY (in probably the late 90s or pre 2010 decade since this website seems to have been there since like...forever) the Yang Guo + Guo Xiang "original version" is not true. jinyong.ylib.com.tw/lib/jyguestion4.htm「請問您,《神鵰俠侶》「十六年後,在此相聚」的伏筆是早已擬定,還是應讀者要求而寫?您又如何在長期寫作中克服文風可能不一的困擾?(小玉西瓜/新竹) 金庸答: 我寫小說,不受讀者反應的影響。我要楊過、小龍女團聚,不是由於朋友或讀者的意見,而是自己同情他二人的愛情,不捨得這樣可愛的一對情侶到死不能相會。...」 A reader asked whether the 16 year promise foreshadowed their reunion or was based on readers' request, and JY answered that he never gets swayed by readers, and intended YG and XLN to get together due to his own empathy in regards to this couple. --------- I think that if we go with the whole plot of ROCH the character of YG would likely have to go through a massive overhaul for him to be with Guo Xiang and probably require a couple more volumes of the novel. The whole point of YG was that despite all kinds of hardships they suffered he still wanted to be with XLN.

So this must be one of those untrue rumors on the internet again.
